Syllabus
Prerequisites: Roads, Railways and Airports.
Target skills and knowledge: The course aims at giving the student the necessary knowledge in order to operate at private societies, contractors and authorities, engaged in planning, design, construction and management of road infrastructures, also providing the proper skills for dealing with safety, cost-effectiveness and environmental aspects. To this purpose, the course includes lectures, practical works, seminars and visits of sites.
Examination methods: Oral examination (after design exercises)
Assessment criteria: Oral examination after design exercises.
Course unit contents: Administrative laws and technical specifications for road infrastructures design.
Geometric and functional design of road infrastructures. Platform composition.
Design of road intersections.
Practical exercise on geometric design of road infrastructures through a commercial software.
Construction, management and maintenance of road infrastructures. Materials and construction technologies. Composition, design, construction and recycling of pavements.

During the course, practical works, lectures and seminars will be organized.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lecturing, using blackboard, overhead projector and video projector; seminars, exercises and didactic tours.
