Syllabus
Prerequisites: Good knowledge of written and spoken Italian.
Target skills and knowledge: Reaching A1-A2 level as to the classification of CEFR (acquisition of phonetic, grammar and lexical competences, acquisition of a certain knowledge of the texts typology in the Russian language), acquisition of theoretical and methodological basis for further studying morphosyntactical structures.
Examination methods: The exam consists of two parts: the written part and the oral part.
WRITTEN: lexical and grammar test (grammar exercises, Russian-Italiand and Italian-Russian translation, short composition). The usage of vocabulary is forbidden.
ORAL: lexical and grammar analysis, translation of originally Russian texts, check of conversation, reading and oral translation skills. The students are also to prepare 10-15 pages of individual reading in Russian (texts will be provided during the course).
In order to be admitted to the oral part, it is obligatory to pass the written part first. The written part can be taken during any examination session, not before the summer session. The oral exam may be taken during one of the following examination sessions within a solar year.
In case both parts of the exam haven't been passed within this term, one should retake both parts of the exam.
Assessment criteria: Italian University system (30/30) with the minimum of 18/30 to pass the exam.
Written examination: orthographic and grammatical correctness; appropriateness.
Oral examination: pronunciation; lexical appropriateness; accuracy in translating; metalinguistic knowledge and ability to expose metalinguistic concepts.
Course unit contents: Syllabus:
Graphic, phonetic and intonation system of the contemporary Russian. Basic morphology: noun and adjective (number, gender, case); pronoun (personal, interrogative, possessive); case formation and their main functions (with and without prepositions); verb (the usage of the verb "to be"; constructions of presence / absence and that of possession); verb conjugation and tenses (Present, Past, Future); verbal mood (Indicative, Imperative); verbal aspect (basic functions of the aspect, formation of aspect pairs); verbs of movement (without prefixes). Elementary syntax (simple sentence).
Production of short written texts.
Language exercises with a mothertongue lecturer: grammar exercises, reading and translation of Russin texts, speaking in Russian about everyday life issues
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course consists of two parts:
1. Frontal interactive lectures (theory)
Frontal lectures are to provide the necessary theoretical ground for practical studies of the morphological and syntactical structures of the languages. These lectures are held by the responsible of the course (I semestre).
2. Language exercises (practice)
Language exercises are to develop reading and translation skills of the students as well as their writing (brief texts) and oral production skills. Language exercises are held by mothertongue lecturers during all the academic year (I and II semestres).

Students who don't attend lectures and Russian mothertongue students are invited to contact the responsible of the course as soon as possibile after the beginning of the lectures to accord the studies programme. Russian mothertongue students, nevertheless, take the same exam as the other students, and during the oral exam are to be able to explain linguistic phenomena which will occur during the exam, from the theoretical point of view.
