Prerequisites: No special requirements and no prerequisites.
Target skills and knowledge: The student who passes the exam:
1. has learned the main methods of management and maintenance of various types of green spaces
2. has a good technical expertise on machinery and equipment that can be used in different work sites of green spaces, namely: preliminary work, planting, care and protection, pruning, mowing and other maintenance works on lawns, green residues management and composting
3. knows quite well the procedures for the proper use and maintenance of equipments, also with regard to the compliance with safety and the environment.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation is based on:
1. Level of technical knowledge acquired concerning the equipment and machinery of different work sites which are used for the maintenance of green spaces
2. Ability to make the optimal choices regarding work organization and work execution with safety
The presence at the classroom exercises and at the technical visits is positively evaluated.
Course unit contents: Types of green spaces and methodological approach to the management and maintenance; organization of worksites; classification of the machinery and equipments for green spaces; work analysis; Multifunctional machinery and transporters (1 CFU).
Preliminary works and soil preparation; the green planting: machines for sowing, transplanting, planting of trees; machines for grass cutting and maintenance of waterways(1 CFU).
Mowing and maintenance of lawns (1 CFU).
Care and protection of green areas: machines for fertilization, weed control and pesticide and growth regulators treatments, endotherapy (0,5 CFU).
Irrigation: systems and equipments for green spaces (0,5 CFU).
Tree pruning and abatements; the use of the chainsaw; tree-climbing; green wasting management: machinery for cleaning and for the management of mowing and pruning residues,compost production (1 CFU).
Health protection and safety in the workplace; analysis and prevention of risks (1 CFU).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course includes classroom lectures, field trips, practical training, and seminars.
