Syllabus
Prerequisites: The student must have a full command of the material of the exam Russian Language 2. Only students who passed the exam “Russian Language 2” are allowed to sit for the exam “Russian Language 3”. Level A2 of the CEFR is required. A good knowledge of Italian language is required.
Target skills and knowledge: The student must develop his/her skills in the comprehension written texts, also through the analysis of original Russian texts and translation from the Russian to the Italian language. Students will also learn theoretic aspects regarding the grammar topics of the course.
Examination methods: The exam consists of the following parts:
1) Written examination
2) Oral examination: 2a) conversation; 2b) final examination (text-analysis and translation from Russian to Italian, metalinguistic analysis).
Only students who passed part 1 can sit for part 2. Part 2a is to be sustained before part 2b.
Students must study 50 pages (100,000 characters) autonomously.
Assessment criteria: Written examination: orthographic and grammatical correctness; appropriateness; fulfilling of every communication task; quality of the translations.
Oral examination: pronunciation; lexical appropriateness; rhythm; intonation; accuracy in translating; metalinguistic knowledge and ability to expose metalinguistic concepts.
Course unit contents: GRAMMAR TOPICS
- Expressions of time and cause.
- Direct and indirect speech;
- The conjunctions что and чтобы;
- Hypothetical constructions;
- Impersonal sentences;
- Negative and indefinite pronouns;
- Verbal aspect.
TRANSLATION TOPICS: text analysis and current topics in translation from Russian to Italian.

Practical skills: reading, listening and comprehension; speaking and writing in order to reach level B1 of the CEFR. Practice in translation from Italian to Russian is also part of the course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Theoretical lessons: 42 hours (21 held by V. Nosilia and 21 held by G. Pomarolli), only in the first term. Teaching language: Italian.
Practical lessons (in both terms): grammar exercises, exercise in speaking and writing, translation from Italian to Russian.
Additional notes about suggested reading: It is compulsory to subscribe to every Moodle-course used by the teachers and to study all the material uploaded by them.
