Prerequisites: No particular prerequisites are damanded.
Target skills and knowledge: Knowledge: the student will acquire theoretical / methodological tools useful to analyze processes and mechanisms by which human societies connect environments and existing resources - spread on the Earth's surface - by integrating them into their own transformations to produce territory.

Skills: the student will develop interpreting and analysitcal skills of territories at different scales, also developing an understanding of the use of traditional as well as innovative cartographic supports. Students
will also develop the capacity to strucure educational projects taking in due consideration contextual territorial dynamics.
Examination methods: Written exams: open questions and multiple choices
Oral exam: not mandatory. The evaluation committee could request the student to sit an oral exam in cases
of doubt. In such a situation, the grade obtained is not binding.
Students who do not pass the exam can participate in the following one. Registration to the exam is mandatory according to the official procedures of the faculty.
Assessment criteria: The final exam's aim is to assess: the knowledge of the topics, the capacity and exaustiveness of the geograhical discourse, the capacity to link the geographical knowledge acquired with the one developed in other disciplinary domains, the capacity of transforming knowledges into abilities.
Course unit contents: - Introduction and definition of Human Geography, and key concepts of the subject
- Introduction to traditional cartography and GIS
- Cultural Geography in relation to the phenomenon of globalization
- Populations, migrations and ethnic groups
- Key concepts of Urban Geography
- Industrial Geography of services and transports
- Geography and agriculture
- The ecosystems and the interactions society / environment
- How to propose the geographical discipline in an educational context
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lectures
Seminars on selected themes may be organised [experts - researchers and/or practitioners – may be invited to give seminars on specific topics];
Additional notes about suggested reading: The student will base his/her study on textbooks and on notes taken during classes. Concerning cartographic and GIS related concepts, stundents will be given instructions during the course. All information will be published in moodle.
