Target skills and knowledge: The course aims at introducing students to some Methods for social research and some basic techniques for the statistical analysis of data, with particular reference to the organization of surveys and analysis of data matrices "case-variable".
At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- recognize limitations and advantages of the different approaches to social research;
- read critically the results of a survey;
- manage small data sets.
Examination methods: Two written examinations:
1) a written test based on open-ended questions (90');
2) a technical report based on statistical analyses of a data matrix (4h).
Assessment criteria: The final grade is a weighted mean of the grades of the written examinations (written test and technical report).
