Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of developmental processes.
Target skills and knowledge: Acquire knowledge on social and emotional development in typical and atypical environments as well as on the neurobiological basis of socio emotional development. Acquire the abilities to critically assess the importance of emotional and social di different environments following a biopsychosocial perspective.
Examination methods: The exam will be written with three open questions that will require short answers. Students will have 1 hour for the exam. International students will have the opportunity to answer the questions in English.
Assessment criteria: Evaluation will be based on comprehension about theoretical and methodological themes, and levels of ability and skills acquired
Course unit contents: 1. Importance of the definition of "emotion"
2. definition of "socialization"
3. emotional development: genetic and environment prespective
4. social development: environmental and neurobiologic bases
5. emotional regulation and individual charachteristics
6. ecological contexts for interpersonal development (family, school, culture)
7. emotion, regulation, socialization in other developmentl context: clinical and scholastic applications.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lessons with PPT, movies, applied methodologies, clinical cases discussions.
Additional notes about suggested reading: Material for the student will be also added during lessons.
