Prerequisites: Basic knowledge acquired in previous years (especially: General Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Educational Psychology).
Target skills and knowledge: Knowledge of the main theories in the psychological learning field. Knowledge of current legislation (normative standards) at national and international level regarding the diagnosis of learning disabilities.
Knowledge of the main assessment tests.
Examination methods: The exam includes a written test with 4 open questions.

The total duration of the test is 1 hour.

To pass the exam, you will need to reach the question in each question.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation criteria will focus on:
- mastering the concepts presented during the course
- ability to use them in the application field
- exhaustiveness in the argumentation of the requested arguments
Course unit contents: The aim of the course is to provide theoretical, conceptual and methodological knowledge for the identification and the assessment of difficulties and disabilities in learning field.
The first part of the course introduces the main theories regarding to the acquiring of reading, writing and mathematical skills (fundamentals of learning and leading models of DSA). The current legislation at the national level will be presented together with the major international diagnostic manuals.
In the second part of the course, special attention will be given to the diagnostic process; the main assessment batteries will be presented.
Finally, applications in clinical and educational field will be addressed and new research perspective will be presented (epigenetic, neuroplasticity and warm cognition).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: During lesson the points above will be treated. The active intervention of the students will not only permitted but welcomed and encouraged as agreed during the early hours of lessons.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The reference texts will be integrated with handouts and scientific articles indicated from time to time in class.
