Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of general psychology, social psychology and research methodology in social science.
Target skills and knowledge: 1. Theoretical and empirical knowledge on data collection through questionnaires and interviews
2. Knowledge and competences allowing to critically evaluate the quality of research conducted through queationnaires and interviews (e.g., those published by the media)
3. Competences for planning and implementing a psychosocial research
4. Competences for conducting a bibliographic search in electronic database (e.g., psycInfo) in order to identify validated measures
5. Competences for creating new scales and ad-hoc items
Examination methods: Written exam (open questions on specific topics). For international students, it is possible to take the exam in English.

The exams for students not attending the course includes 8 questions (1 hour and 20 minutes ). For students who attened the course, the exam includes 6 questions (1 hour).
Assessment criteria: Students will be evaluated based on the acquired knowledge and the ability to use their new competences to the development and implementation of surveys in different contexts.
Course unit contents: Topic 1
- Introduction: planning a psychosocial research
- Introduction to questionnaires and interviews
- Sampling methods in psychosocial research
Topic 2
- How to develop a questionnaire: the structure
- Turning concepts into variables
- Selecting and creating specific items and scales
- How to create high quality questionnaires
Topic 3
- Collecting data: Different methods of administering questionnaires and conducting structured interviews
- Coding and analyzing data
- Dissemination of findings
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Along with online lessons and materials (slides, scientific papers, book chapters...), online interactive methods and practical activities will allow the students to apply the acquired knowledge and competences.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The textbooks will be integrated with the content of the video lessons, scientific papers and book chapters.
