Syllabus
Prerequisites: basic knowledge of cell biology, physiology of the neuron and anatomy of the nervous system
Target skills and knowledge: The student will have the chance to acquire an extensive knowledge on the processes underlying the cognitive functioning in humans and in animals. Particular attention will be devoted to animal models used in the study of cognitive functioning and its dysfunctions.
Examination methods: The exam will be done on line. Question types are: open question, multiple choice, matching from a pull-down list and completion .
Assessment criteria: Good knowledge of the topics covered as well as a good knowledge of the specific terminology.
Course unit contents: The aim of the course is to investigate the main aspects of human and animal behavior trying to emphasize the biological aspects common between different species .

the course will cover several topics including Psychobiology, Neuropsychology, and Comparative Psychology .

The program includes :
- Physiological bases of behaviour
- Hemispheric lateralization . Studies in humans and animals
- Language, Speech disorders
- Memory systems and molecular basis of learning and memory
- Brain mechanisms of emotion
- Prey/predator interaction
- Social behavior in animals
- Cognitive sex difference in animals
