Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic psychometrics preparation and basic knowledge about cognitive processes are required.
Target skills and knowledge: The course aims to provide the knowledge necessary for understanding cognitive tests. The skills to be acquired concern the theoretical, procedural and methodological aspects involved in the selection and use of the tests. It is also intended to provide the elements to understand and choose the appropriate methods of cognitive rehabilitation.

The knowledge and skills to be acquired are:
1. knowledge of the methodological and deontological problems involved in the use of cognitive tests
2. knowledge of the main psychometric characteristics of cognitive tests
3. ability to evaluate and choose the tests according to the evaluation objectives
4. ability to find updated bibliographic sources on specific cognitive tests
5. knowledge of the rehabilitation context and of the main intervention options available.
Examination methods: Written exam:
47 multiple choice questions for the text of Pedrabissi and Santinello;
2 open questions for the text of Bisiacchi and Tressoldi.
Duration of the exam: 60 minutes

International students can take the exam in English.
Assessment criteria: The assessment of the student's preparation will be based on the understanding of the topics and on the acquisition of the proposed concepts and methodologies.
Course unit contents: Theoretical basis of psychological testing.
How to evaluate and select a test.
Interpretation of test scores.
Test reliability and validity.
Features and applications of the main assessment tools on basic cognitive skills.
Basic principles of cognitive rehabilitation and examples of treatment.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The teaching will consist mainly of lectures. Individual, group work and exercises will be offered. The active involvement of students will be appreciated.
Students will use of the services offered by the Test Library (Library of Psychology - Metelli).
