Prerequisites: None.
Target skills and knowledge: Students will acquire the basic knowledge about Dynamic Psychology as a general theory about mental and intrapsychic functioning.
Particularly they will know the foundaments of freudian Psychoanalytic model and the contributions of main post-freudian authors.
They should moreover acquire the basic concepts concerning the psychoanalytic diagnos founded on the knowledge of defense mechanisms.
Examination methods: Final exam is written with semi-open questions. From 3 to 5 questions in one hour time.
Assessment criteria: For the evaluation students are required to demonstrate their knowledge, their level of comprehension and their capacity to integrate the concepts developed during the course.
Course unit contents: Introduction to Freud’s models, the theory of object relation, the Ego Psychology and the Self Psychology, Winnicott and Bolwby's theories. Nancy Mc Williams's model.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lessons with the use of PowerPoint presentation.
Frequency to lessons is recommended but not mandatory.
During the course participation through verbal interaction and sharing will be encouraged.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The contents in the mandatory books will be integrated with the PowerPoint slides used during the course. The PPT presentation will be available for students to download in Moodle.
