Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: The teaching aims to provide the knowledge necessary to understand the pharmacological effects of drugs on the human organism, through the study of the mechanisms and kinetics, which determine their effectiveness.
Examination methods: Oral exam.
Course unit contents: Pharmacodynamics: study the effects of drugs, herbs or supplements on the human organism.
Pharmacokinetics: study what a body does to drugs, herbs, and supplements. For this, the course is focused on the following aspects: 1) Absorption, how and where the substance enters the body; 2) Distribution, where the substance goes when it is absorbed; 3) Metabolism, breakdown or detoxification of a drug; 4) Excretion, removal of the substance or its breakdown products from the body.
