Prerequisites: Students must have A2 French language proficiency of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Target skills and knowledge: The main objective of the course is to master French language skills to the CEFR B1 level, by studying French grammar and developing various skills: writing CVs and covering letters where the students present themselves and the educational and professional paths followed; listening, reading, translating, discussing French texts (written, oral, multimedia) on the topic of the migration phenomenon, in cross-disciplinary interaction with other degree programs.
Examination methods: The final assessment consists of a propaedeutic written exam centered on grammar points and of an oral examination to be held in French based on contents related to the theme of the phenomenon of migration.
Assessment criteria: The assessment of the student's progress will be based on the acquisition of B1 French language skills of the CEFR and French oral expression based on contents on the topic of migration.
Course unit contents: Acquisition of B1 French language skills of the CEFR. Study of French grammar and grammatology. Writing CVs and covering letters to present themselves and the educational and professional paths followed. Listening, reading, translation and analysis (morphosyntactic, lexical, semantic, terminological, thematic), discussion in French (written and oral), for texts (written, oral, multimedia) in French about the phenomenon of migration.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The formal lectures, given by the lecturer through face-to-face teaching (but also practice and other activities), is backed up by exercises involving speaking French, run by the lectors. The aim is to ensure a broad and structured preparation.
It is strongly recommended that students attend regularly both classroom lessons (lectures) and the lectors’ courses, but also to use the Language Lab, in self-learning, or under the guidance of the lectors.

Other materials to be studied or consulted, related in particular on the topic of migration, will be recommended by the teacher (lecturer) on the Moodle platform SPGI (, in the section dedicated to the current "French Language" course.
