Syllabus
Prerequisites: Prerequisites are not required; recommended is the knowledge of physics and mechanics
Target skills and knowledge: The student acquires the basis for managing agricultural machinery and plants present in a cattle farm. In particular, the student will acquire knowledge to choose, size, and set the tractor, the main mechanical equipment and livestock facilities in relation to operative, economic and environmental requirements.
Examination methods: Normally, the exam is a test with open questions. Examinations in progress could be done.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will be based on both the understanding of the arguments and the acquisition of concepts applied autonomously and in a conscious way
Course unit contents: 1,5 CFU: The agricultural tractor.
1 CFU: Machines for haymaking, silage and forage drying
0,5 CFU: Manure and slurry management
1 CFU: Work organization of agricultural machinery and plants.
1 CFU: Milking systems and milk refrigeration, feeding systems
3 CFU: Precision Livestock Farming
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course is organized in a 60% of lectures and tutorials in a 40% of tutorial part guided visits and seminars with technical staff of agricultural equipment companies
Additional notes about suggested reading: Constant frequency throughout the course is recommended also to learn the technical terminology. Slides projected during the lessons are available on the School website
