Syllabus
Prerequisites: knowledge of Mathematics and Physics
Target skills and knowledge: Use of basic knowledge of structural mechanics and analysis for computing and check calculations for the design of a civil work according to the Technical European law
Examination methods: The examination consists of a paper and of an oral (optional). The paper consists of three exercises:

1) Computation of the normal force, shear force and bending moment diagrams of a simple structure.
2) Computation of the stresses in a section subjected to bending moment and normal force.
3) Computation of load combination corresponding to the Ultimate and Serviceability limit states verification

On going two paper examinations with two exercises each, will be carried out.

Ongoing Paper Examination 1:
1) Computation of the center of gravity and of inertia moment of a composed figure
2) Computation of the normal force, shear force and bending moment diagrams of a simple structure

Ongoing Paper Examination 2:
1) Computation of the stresses in a section subjected to bending moment and normal force.
2) Computation of load combination corresponding to the Ultimate and Serviceability limit states verification

The two ongoing paper examinations are equivalent to the single paper examination.




The oral is optional for the student that wish to increase the vote of the paper. It consists of two questions.

Capability of calculations
Course unit contents: Elements of Structural Mechanics: vectors, geometry of mass, forces and stresses, internal forces and Mohr circles, deformations and De Saint Venant theory.
Elements of Structural Analysis: The italian version of the euro codes (NTC 2018), wood roofs and reticular structures.
