Syllabus
Prerequisites: The course requires fundamental knowledge provided for the program curriculum and related to the areas of pedagogy, psychology, and sociology in childhood development and kindergarten
Target skills and knowledge: The course aims to develop a coordinated system of theoretical and practical knowledge to help students to build knowledge and skills in reading and understanding the phenomena of leadership and management for an adequate management of communicative dynamics and a positive exercise of the functions of management and coordination
Examination methods: The examination will take place through an oral interview on the issues addressed during the course with discussions about evidences produced by the students in agreement with the teacher.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will take into account the following aspects:
- the quality of theoretical knowledge possessed and the adequacy of used resources ,
- the ability to apply and use the knowledge and methodologies proposed in relation to real-life contexts;
- the ability to reelaborate the learning autonomously and personally.
Course unit contents: The content of the course are developed in four main directions which are closely integrated:
- the functions of leadership in organizations and teams
- the emotional leadership and the styles of leadership
- the transformative leadership in the learning organization
- the training to leadership.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course will be provided through lectures (30 hours), offered by the teacher with the support of slides and specific materials for study and reflection, learning activities carried out by students individually and in groups in an online modality (12 hours)to built abilities for real situations.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The Kotter’s book is recommended for those who follow organizational change in social and educational services, while Barzano’s book is recommended for those who follow the themes of services of school, the Dilts's book is recommended for those who follow organizational cultures
