Syllabus
Prerequisites: There are no necessary prerequisites.
Target skills and knowledge: The course is aimed at the acquisition and consolidation of a number of linguistic, philological and rhetorical-stylistic skills on the knowledge and transformation of the work of Virgil in the Middle Ages, particularly in France, Italy and Spain. Specifically the old-french "Roman d'Eneas" will be read and commented in relation with the "Aeneid" and the theme of the theme of "arms and love "will be developed.
Examination methods: The test will be an oral examination.
Assessment criteria: Knowledge of the contents and assimilation of the concepts.
Ability to analyse, compare, summarize and critically re-elaborate the acquired knowledge.
Expository style and use of specific language.
Course unit contents: "The arms and loves." Reading, translation and commentary of the most significant steps of the anonymous "Roman d'Eneas" compared with Italian and Spanish medieval texts.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The teaching will be based on an eclectic approach to adapt different learning methodologies. The method of exposition will include lectures, and other teaching methods engaging students actively in the learning process will be also used. Operational and investigative methods (laboratory, exercises)will be adopted.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The specific didactic materials, the topics meant to be analysed and carefully studied, will be highlighted during the lessons.
