Syllabus
Prerequisites: None in particular. Desired scientific and professional interest as well as curiosity about personal experimentation.
Target skills and knowledge: The main training objectives are:
to acquire a valid theoretical and practical background, that favours employment and growth within work and organizations in training and people development; to learn methodologies and tools for “people customized training” and for “self empowerment” of individuals about change, personal and professional wellbeing, relationship between individual and his/her own job, working "microculture". Course “about” but also “of” training and self empowerment.
Examination methods: Written and oral exam.
Written exam with open questions.Oral will be the day after.
For attendees’ oral exam: it is possible to submit also the exploratory research, if carried out, on the topics indicated during the course.
To attend the exam you have to sign up for the written and the oral part.
Assessment criteria: -knowledge of the self empowerment approach, originals tools and training applications
-knowledge of conceptual tools to understand and support adult people change
-personal experience of the self empowerment training.
Course unit contents: Course content is divided into five main areas:
1)Self empowerment: theoretical and practical model; professional application; empowerment-oriented training; empowerment-oriented counseling;
2)Personal empowerment: exploratory researches carried out by small groups of students, in particular about change in people's lives;
3)Types, activities and actors of the training activities;
4)Customized training within organizations: methodologies and testimonials from important industrial and service companies;
5)Self development training: training methodologies using the empowerment approach.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures. Exercises. Discussions. Testimonials from well-known companies. Achievement of small exploratory researches conducted by small groups of students about changes in people's lives and about the empowerment-oriented "microculture". Contacts to learn about training experiences in local companies.
If a whole day laboratory will be available,students might attend an experimental seminar of self empowerment approach with typical exercises.
Additional notes about suggested reading: For Students who have attended the course: it is possible to submit also the exploratory research, if carried out, on the topics indicated during the course and the summary of results of the group work. The reccomended readings are: two books (n.1 and 2) and the research. If you don't apply for the research, the reccomended readings are: two books (n.1 and 2) and one book (n.3 or n.4 or n.5 or n.6).
