Syllabus
Prerequisites: Course "Fondamenti di Meccanica". In particular, the principles of kinematics and kinetics of the rigid body: coordinate systems, roto-traslations, forces and torques.
Target skills and knowledge: At the end of the course, the student will know the most advanced methods and technologies for the direct and indirect measurement of the human movement. the student will be able measure, process and interpret markers of human movements
Examination methods: Written test including questions on the theory and matlab exercises. Theory questions allow to verify that the student knows all the theories behind the topics discussed during the classes. Exercises allows the theacher to veryfy that the student is able to solve a practical problem using the notions learned during the course.
Assessment criteria: The exam will verify if the student knows the most important methods and technologies for the quantitative measurement of the human movement. In particular, the final rating will be based for 2/3 on the rating obtained on the theory questions and 1/3 on exercises (same proportion of the time spent on theory and exercise during classes).
Course unit contents: The course aims to provide knowledge on the bioengineering of the human movement. The most advanced methods and technologies will be presented which allow the direct or indirect measurements of the human movement. In particular, the topics of the course will include:
-Introduction to the bioengineering of the human movement
-Reference systems
-Methods for representing rototraslations
-Motion capture systems
-Joint kinematics
-Errors ed artifacts in sterofotogrammetric systems
-Measurements of forces and pressures
-Joint kinetics
-Protocols for gait analysis
-Posturography
-Practical laboratory
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures and practical laboratories (both instrument and PC) during which the student will obtain and analize the data, by implementing the studied methods.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The slides of the lessons will be provided to the students.
