Syllabus
Prerequisites: Hydraulics and Open channel flow in particular
Target skills and knowledge: Fluvial hydrodynamics and morphodynamics; Sediment Transport.
Part of the course is devoted to the Application of a 2D hydrodynamic numerical model to study flood propagation in a real test case.
Assessment criteria: Understanding and elaboration of the theoretical concepts. Capability of using the numerical model presented during the course.
Course unit contents: Flood propagation. Definition of Hydraulic risk. Hydraulic structures for mitigating the Hydraulic risk. Sediment Transport. Numerical Modeling.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Classroom lectures on theoretical aspects and their practical applications. Lessons in the computer lab on the use of a hydrodynamic numerical model.
