Syllabus
Prerequisites: The contents of courses in Pharmaceutical Chemistry 1, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, and Biochemistry are considered preliminary.
Target skills and knowledge: This course has as its purpose the study of drugs, natural and synthetic, with particular reference to the therapeutic areas of central and peripheral nervous system. The course focuses on the chemical aspects and the chemical-physical properties of the drugs and the relations existing between their structure, their activity and toxicity. Describes in a privileged way the interpretation of molecular interactions between drugs biomolecules involved in their mechanism of action or to induce side effects and toxic.
Examination methods: Examination is performed by an interview with the student that takes place at the end of the training course.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation of profit involves an assessment of the student's critical skills to describe the chemical-physical and pharmaceutical characteristics that characterize an active principle from a pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic and toxicological point of view. Particular emphasis will be given to the description and interpretation of the structure-activity relationships (SAR) characterizing the different classes of drugs.
Course unit contents: The course is divided into a general part preparatory to a second part more systematics.
