Syllabus
Prerequisites: Knowledge and competences of Biochemistry, Physiology and Pathology of veterinary species, including related biomolecular mechanisms.
Required Courses: Veterinary General Pathology.
Target skills and knowledge: Basic knowledge about veterinary pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
Knowledge about factors contributing to drug response, including drug-drug interactions.
Basic knowledge about regulatory veterinary pharmacology (e.g., presence of harmful residues in animal foodstuffs) and veterinary pharmacy.
Knowledge about molecular mechanistic toxicology.
Basic knowledge of mutagenesis, carcinogenesis and reproductive toxicology.
Knowledge about the different class of drugs used in veterinary and other species; in particular, the information about their mechanism of action, their pharmacokinetic behavior, main therapeutic applications and possible adverse effects.
Examination methods: Written exam (multiple choice questions, MCQs) concerning the topics of General and Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Oral exam for Special Pharmacology.

Written exam will consist of 60 MCQs (2 points each), and it is preparatory to the oral exam.
The got score is valid for one year
The oral exam consists of minimum 3 questions.
Assessment criteria: Evaluation of the acquired knowledge about specific topics (for both written and oral exams).
Evalutation of the student’s capability to discuss and solve specific problems and make by itself intra- and inter-disciplinary connections; the use of a specific scientific language (oral exam).
