Syllabus
Prerequisites: Course attendance requires basic knowledge acquired in First Year courses.
Target skills and knowledge: It is expected that students will acquire knowledge about Clinical Psychology, specifically: theories and models in Clinical Psychology, the main psychopathological disorders, psychodiagnostic techniques and assessment, and interventions in Clinical Psychology.
Examination methods: The written examination consists in 30 questions to completion. The lenght of the examination is about 30 minutes. The oral examination is only by professor’s request.
International students may require an English examination.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation of knowledge and competence of students is based on the assessment of comprehension and acquisitions of subjects and topics explained during classes and described in textbooks for examination.
Course unit contents: - Theories and models in Clinical Psychology
- Assessment in Clinical Psychology
- Psychodiagnostic techniques (clinical interview, self-report instruments, behavioural observation and psychophysiological assessment)
- Clinical features of the main psychopathological disorders
- Interventions in Clinical Psychology
- Analysis of several clinical cases
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Classes will cover the main course topics that students will expand with suggested readings, analysis of clinical cases and examples of research in Clinical Psychology. Practice lessons will be mainly focused on the analysis of several clinical cases.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The consultation of tests in the faculty Library is highly recommended, particularly for students who cannot attend lessons regularly.
