Target skills and knowledge:

Understand the main scientific methods applied in psychological research. Learn how to design a research, to implement it, to collect, analyze and interpret research data. Critically understand characteristics of both qualitative and quantitative methods in psychological research. |
Examination methods:
|
Written exam including multiple choice items, open questions and exercises to be solved. The possibility of an oral integration will be guaranteed. |
Assessment criteria:

Specific and critical knowledge about research methods in psychology will be evaluated as well as the ability of understanding and applying the correct methods in specific situations. |
Course unit contents:

Psychology as a science;
The concepts of sample, variable, and relationship between variables;
Measurement in psychology;
Experimental research designs;
Quasi-experimental research designs;
Non-experimental research designs and single case studies;
Validity: internal, external, construct and statistical;
Qualitative and quantitative methods in psychological research. |
