Target skills and knowledge: Critical understanding of the historical development of the main trends of thought in XX century philosophy of science and of the most important strands of contemporary discussion
Examination methods: Written, open-questions test in English

Course unit contents: - Science and scientific method
- Induction and empirical confirmation
- Popper’s falsifiability
- Empiricism and logical empiricism
- Thomas Kuhn: normal science and scientific revolutions
- After Kuhn: Lakatos, Laudan, Feyerabend
- Challenges to the authority of science: sociology of science, feminism and Science Studies
- Evidence and explanation
- The issue of naturalism
- An overview of the philosophy of psychology
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal and interactive classes encouraging students’ contributions.
The opportunity to organize exercises and students’ presentations will be discussed and evaluated during the course
