Syllabus

Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Prerequisites: Basic conceptual capabilities and knowledge typically shown by students with their High School certificate.
Target skills and knowledge: The overall aim of the course in General Psychology is to provide a critical understanding of theories and methods in the core areas of Psychology. The Course includes two modules. The aim of Module A is to develop conceptual and analytical skills relevant to the understanding of topics that will be presented in Module B, that will cover the various areas of General Psychology.
Examination methods: The exam consists in a computer-administered test lasting about 1 hour and including both multiple-choice and open questions. In order to participate in the exams students need to book their participation via the online platform "Uniweb" from 20 to 5 days prior to the date of the exam. There will be only one booking list for both modules.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation of the preparation of the student will take into account the acquisition of concepts relating to the different topics and the level of learning reached.

Specific characteristics of the Module

- Psychophysics,sensory and perceptual processing
- Memory
- Cognition and Language
- Motivation and Emotion
- Intelligence
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Teaching will include frontal and interactive lessons, as well as class exercises where students will be invited to cast in context the learned information.
The two modules are complementary and closely integrated.
