Target skills and knowledge: Ability to contextualize the study of work in the political and socioeconomic scenario and to clearly identify the contribution of psychology in improving the working place and conditions.

Knowledge about the psychological relationship between individuals, the work environment and organizations; skills in applying methods for their study.

Knowledge about the impact of the technological revolution on work, and ability to face all its aspects.

Knowledge of psychological theories and methods of investrigation of working practices, including pathological ones; theories and methods of marketing and consumer psychology.
Examination methods: Written examination with open traditional questions, comments, methodological exercises, research design.
Assessment criteria: The knowledge gained from lessons and texts will be assessed through open and closed questions.
Course unit contents: 1 - Introduction to work and organisations. Current contexts and future scenarios for work psychology. Organisations: from Industrial Revolution to Knowledge Society; Businesses and processes of globalisation. Economic, work and welfare systems; The evolution of work in society; Promises and threats of 4.0.

2 - Research on psychology of human activities and social practices of work.
Distributed cognition; Motivation, engagement and satisfaction in professional activities; Sociality in working environments; Leadership and teamwork; Methods of analysis of human and work activities, Focus Group, Brainstorming and affinity diagram.

3 - The contribution of psychology to safety in the workplace.
Psychology and Safety at Work; Human error and professional accidents; Ergonomics and interaction with machines, accessibility of technologies and workplaces.

4 - Technological innovation and its impact on work.
The forms of e-work; Remote work; Cyber-physical work-space; Computer supported cooperative work; Smart city, smart workers; From Facebook to Linkedin: network identity and human resources; E-addiction.

5 - Marketing and communication.
External communication; Persuasion and traditional methods of advertising and marketing; Web and SN marketing; Gambling and persuasive technologies; Neuromarketing; From eye tracking to face readers, innovative methods and marketing techniques.

6 - Consumer Psychology.
The psychology of the consumer; Decisions and purchasing behavior; Consumer analysis, study methods of buying behavior; E-commerce and consumers online.

7 - Problems and pathologies of working practices.
Abnormal and counterproductive behaviors, stress (including techno-stress), mobbing, burn-out, aggression and violence, workaholism, mental and emotional fatigue and cognitive load.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course encourages the active participation of the attendants in the lesson, also through short oral presentations of personal research and group work on topics of in-depth study.

The course includes demonstrations in the classroom and in the laboratory (limited number) of instruments and techniques for research in the field of work psychology (focus groups and interviews, questionnaires, eye tracking, face recognition ...).
