Syllabus
Prerequisites: It is necessary to have a certain knowledge of the German language, the lessons will start at the German language level of B1 of the European Portfolio for Foreign Languages. The lessons are hold in Italian and German language with examples of the English language. It is possibile for the Erasmus students to do the final exam in English language.
The final credit points are 9cfu, the course is made of 65 lessons in the first part of the academic year.
German language training will be hold during the hole academic year by dott. Ruth Otte.
Target skills and knowledge: New innovative strategies were used after several years of didactic experimentation: Dagmar Winkler Pegoraro (2012), Strategie per un migliore insegnamento della lingua tedesca. Padova: Librerie Internazionali Cortina. The strategies are useful for stimulating the cognitive and inferencial capacities and the 'Weltwissen', the world knowledge of the students, most important for being really able to formulate in an analytic and synthetic way information of different linguistic types and sources; they must reinforce the knowledge of the arguments of the program and be able to discuss in a suitable way about the different arguments in a correct grammatical and morpho-syntactic way with correct prosodic intonation; they must be able to use the bilingual and monolingual dictionary and on line dictionaries.
The students must be able to translate different text corpora from the German lnnguage into Italian, their mother tongue; for Erasmus students it is possible to translate from German into English. they also must be able to understand, discuss and write a few words about the arguments of newspaper articles and film sequences.
Examination methods: The students have to analyze, sum up and translate original text corpora of different jargons as political and economic jargons and to sum aup short film sequences.
For the oral exam they must prepare two arguments and discuss them during the exam.
The course have also some exercise lessons for the whole year with Dr. Ruth Otte.
Assessment criteria: Very important for a correct evaluation is to distinguish three types of skills: the competence (grammatical - morpho-syntactical errors), the cognizance and the capacity. I had the fortune to be selceted in an European Project for Oral and Written Language Evaluation, which was very useful and I dare say most important. It is very important to stimulate the cognitive and infernce capacities of the students-
Course unit contents: Different articles about political and economic problems will be translated trom the German language into Italian, with references also to the English language. Most of the articles are in the book Dagmar Winkler (2010), "Grammatica discorsiva della lingua tedesca", Padova: Cortina. During a certain number of lessons ther will be discussed the history and the actuality of the countries with official German language as the Federal Republic of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and South Tyrol. The text for these lessons can be found in 'moodle' of the department.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: New innovative strategies were used after several years of didactic experimentation: Dagmar Winkler Pegoraro (2012), Strategie per un migliore insegnamento della lingua tedesca. Padova: Librerie Internazionali Cortina. Additional notes about suggested reading: Important during the lessons Dagmar Winkler (2010), Grammatica discorsiva della lingua tedesca. Padova: Cortina.
And for the history and actuality in 'moodle' of the Department.
Very useful to read Dagmar Winkler Pegoraro (2012), Strategie per un migliore insegnamento della lingua tedesca. Padova: Librerie Internazionali Cortina.
For a better understanding of the literature of the countries of German language Dagmar Winkler (1993), 2000 anni di letteratura tedesca. Padova: Unipress.
