Syllabus
Prerequisites: The course requires the knowledge of basic elements of organizational design and accounting.
Target skills and knowledge: - Being able to understand and quantify the value of people in the growth and strategies of the company.
- Knowledge of the main HR management practices and tecniques
- Being able to evaluate the contribution of different choices of personnel management on corporate performance.
- Knowing how to assess personal skills for career development.
Examination methods: - Written examination
- Oral examination
- Project work
Assessment criteria: The evaluation will be based on the knowldge of the topics covered on the lessons and on the individual ability to discuss HRM issues.
Course unit contents: The course aims at providing a theoretical and methodological framework in order to integrate HRM with business strategy. HRM is regarded as a general management skill, essential not only for HR managers but also for people working in different business areas as they are daily facing coordination, evaluation and training of their workers. As a consequence, the course provides an integration of theoretical models and HR practices.
The course also aims at providing students with the tools to address the labour market and set their career.
The training activities will develop along the main issues of “human resource management value chain”:
:: people - motivation and competencies, labour market, personnel planning and information system, recruiting and selection
:: relations - industrial relations system and commitment
:: performance - training and development of human resources, job design, performance management
:: value improvement - Job evaluation and competence evaluation, compensation, workers participation in management and diversity management
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures, HR managers invited as guest speaker, case studies.
