Syllabus
Prerequisites: The teaching of "AGRIFOOD MARKET ECONOMICS AND FOOD LEGISLATION" takes place at 1st half of 3rd year of the degree course "SICUREZZA IGIENICO-SANITARIA DEGLI ALIMENTI".
It's divided in two parts:
- AGRIFOOD LEGISLATION (Legislazione Agroalimentare)
- AGRIFOOD MARKET ECONOMICS (Economia dei mercati dei prodotti agroalimentari)
Required foundation courses: Principles of Agricultural and Food Economics)
Examination methods: To be defined
Assessment criteria: The student will be evaluated on the basis of the knowledge gained in relation to its ability to use and present the concepts and topics learned during the course.
Final oral exam of AGRIFOOD LEGISLATION: in order to semplify the final oral exam, only for third-year student a written test will take place (at first exam session only).
Course unit contents: AGRIFOOD LEGISLATION
Health law: legal concepts. Health organization: the state of the public health system since 1900; concepts relating to current public health organization in the EU, Italy and Veneto (European Commission, Ministry, Region, AULSS).
existing rules: White Paper on Food Safety, EC Regulation 178/2002 ( "European Authority for Food Safety", "Precautionary Principle", "flexibility", "conditionality", etc.); "Hygiene package" (Regulations EC nn.852, 853, 854, 882/2004 as amended and supplemented; nn.2073 Regulations EC / 2005 and subsequent amendments and supplements) and its application and non-application; State-Regions Agreement 11.02.2006; nods to the Law no.283 / 1962 D.P.R.n.327 / 1980; D.Lgs.n.193 / 2007; D.Lgs.n.194 / 2008; Labelling (EU Regulation n.1169 / 2011).
AGRIFOOD MARKET ECONOMICS
Strategic marketing: definition. Marketing orientation, operational and economic environment. environmental analysis. Marketing mix and marketing plan. Market segmentation and product differentiation: Criteria and segmentation strategies. Diversification and differentiation. Components and differentiation advantages. The life cycle and adoption of the product. Decisions about product quality, packaging, added services. The brand.
The price and communication: price competition. Factors affecting the price.pricing decisions. pricing strategies. Promotion and advertising. Notes on communication and
merchandising.
Distribution and logistics functions of intermediaries. The distribution channels. Ownership, size,format stores. integration processes. Wholesaler and retail. Logistics:definition and functions.
