Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge on healthcare services quality and organization.
Basic concepts of work psychology and public law.
Target skills and knowledge: HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT
 Knowledge and understanding: The student will discern organizational analysis methods and most relevant management tools applied in healthcare.
 Applying knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to perform an organizational analysis and to apply the most relevant managerial tools.
 Independence of judgment (making judgements): The student will be able to identify priorities and to select the most appropriate managerial tool.
 Communication skills: The student will be able to present and defend her analysis and choices.

HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT (INTEGRATION)
 Knowledge and understanding: The student will know norms, organizational theories, modalities and major methods of performance and human resources management.
 Applying knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to individuate and apply people management’s methods for their working contexts.
 Independence of judgment (making judgements): The student will be able to choose in relation to the context, the most suitable management methods.
 Communication Skills: The student will be able to communicate what has assimilated in qualified contexts in both oral and written forms

Course unit contents: HEALTHCARE MANAGEMENT
- Multidimensional approach to quality in healthcare (effectiveness, efficiency, safety, equity, appropriateness, patients’ satisfaction, healthcare personnel satisfaction.
- Methods to perform an organizational analysis in order to identify problems and set priorities.
- Define objectives (linked to problems identified), actions, and indicators (project cycle).
- Advantages and limits of the most relevant managerial tools applied in healthcare and criteria for selecting the most appropriate within a specific context.
- Performance evaluation.

HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT (INTEGRATION)
Performance management in health care services: norms and implementation tools;
Job evolution in italian public sector.
Human capital management: from birth to present.
Basic principles in human resources management.
Staff management: recruitment, training, formation and job performance assessment.
