Syllabus

Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Prerequisites: The course requirements concern basic knowledge of management.
Target skills and knowledge: The aim of the course is providing students with concepts and tools to manage the process of strategy formulation in line with the evolution of the competitive environment. Topics will include strategy formulation and monitoring, growth strategies and internationalization (Corporate Strategy module). In order to implement corporate strategies, organizational actors are required to have knowledge and competencies for the management of the individual and group behaviors (Organizational Behavior module). Hence, the course will describe relevant issues in behavioral topics (e.g. decision making, leadership, intercultural management, change management and negotiation) related to specific corporate strategies.
Examination methods: Final written exam + group assignments
Assessment criteria: The final written exam consists of questions including questions on a case study (provided with the exam) and theoretical questions on all the materials.
Grup assignments required to solve the case studies and write a paper on a movie.

Specific characteristics of the Module

Course unit contents: The course provides knowledge and competencies for the management of the individual and group behaviors within the organizations. After recalling some basic concepts regarding the organizational structures, the course will describe relevant issues in decision making, leadership and empowerment, change management and negotiation.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Traditional in-class lessons and experiential methods (case studies, role playing, audio-visual supported training).
Additional notes about suggested reading: Slides and journal articles. There will be a textbook which references will be provided at the beginning of the course.
