Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and metabolism of skeletal msucle, of regulation of muscle protein turnover; of principles of nutrition and energy metabolism.
Target skills and knowledge: In depth knowledge of the causes and the mechanisms of sarcopenia in the elderly. Preventive and therapeutical strategies.
Examination methods: Multiple choice written tests. Possible oral integration.
Assessment criteria: Marks expressed as 30/30

Muscle metabolism, sarcopenia and ageing: pathophysiological, nutritional, behavioural and preventive aspects.
