Syllabus
Prerequisites: This is a basic course, so it requires only essential knowledge of general psychology and social psychology
Target skills and knowledge: The course means to offer to the student the main themes of work psychology (especially the work's psychosocial meanings: motivation and socialization in the workplace, personnel recruitment, selection and assessment, career counseling, psychological contract, job satisfaction and psychosocial risks at work) and organizational psychology (especially organizational culture and climate, leadership, decision making, organizational change and development, emotional and conflict management at work).
Examination methods: The student will take a written exam, with open questions (typically 8-10) and preset space to respond. None oral addiction is available.
Assessment criteria: The professor will judge the level of contents comprehension and mastery, the exact and accurate language and the comprehensive answer.
Course unit contents: The main themes treated during the course are:
- Areas, methods and instruments of research and active initiatives in Work Psychology
- Psychological connection between people and work: motivation, job selection, psychological contract and socialization in the workplace
- Occupational health and illness: job satisfaction, work engagement, work-related stress and psychosocial risks
- Human resources management: personnel recruitment, selection and assessment, career counseling, outplacement, work-life balance and diversity management
- Organizational psychology: organizational culture and climate, group behavior and leadership, decision making, organizational change and development, emotional and conflict management at work
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The frontal lessons will present the work and organizational psychology main themes, and the student will attend to deepening them through the bibliography.
Student's active involvement is strongly recommended.
Materials and contents will be available to the student in the course's Moodle site.

From the 2016 summer session it will be the current study program.
If a student needs to take the exam with a previous bibliography, it will have to register in the special exam list and to send an email to the professor.

In addiction to the presented books, in the study program includes the chapters n. 6: La soddisfazione lavorativa and n. 9: I rischi psicosociali of the book "Psicologia del lavoro" of Piergiorgio Argentero, Claudio G. Cortese, Claudia Piccardo.
These chapters will be available in the course's Moodle site.
