Course unit contents: The process industry and the evolution of industrial chemistry. Critical study of chemical reactions: thermodynamics, kinetics and environmental assessments. Material and energy balance. Energy and fuels. Water's features and treatments for industrial uses. Industrial gases: nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen. The industry of nitrogen, sulfur and their derivatives. the industry of sodium chloride and of the halogens. Phosphorus and fertilizer. Silicon production and silicones. The patents.
