Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Specific characteristics of the Module

Course unit contents: This Social history course deals with the history of modern welfare state both in Europe and in the USA. The most important social measures taken from the end of nineteen century to present are analyzed in comparative perspective, paying attention to the very different social contests characteristic of each European state. How poverty and social exclusion have been contrasted in the last two centuries is the core topic of the course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal lessons go along with discussion groups which stimulate the student active contribution. In such a way it is easier to reach the learning outcomes expected.
