Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic Mathematics.
Target skills and knowledge: Mathematical tools to represent and optimise a dynamic system.
Examination methods: Written examination.
Assessment criteria: Knowledge of fundamental definitions.
Knowledge of the statements of theorems presented.
Knowledge of some mathematical models in Economics
Ability of using definitions and theorems in exercises.
Ability of solving standard exercises on
1) unconstrained and constrained optimization
2) differential equations

Understanding mathematical aspects and economic interpretations in
Solow and Ramsey models.
Understanding other optimal control models, which will be analysed according with students’ interest.
Course unit contents: Nonlinear programming.
Ordinary differential equations.
Optimal control.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Lectures and in-class exercises.
