Syllabus
Prerequisites: They are considered as prerequisites to know the main cognitive models of memory, spatial representation, mental models, emotions and interpersonal relationships.
Target skills and knowledge: The course allows students to acquire theoretical knowledge on various aspects of the interaction between human beings and environment, considered in the cognitive, affective, and relational variables. In addition to the acquisition of theoretical knowledge, the course aims to sharpen participants' ability to apply their knowledge in different contexts (clinical, educational, recreational, community). Participants will develop intervention projects based on the analysis of specific environmental characteristics and aimed at their improvement.
Examination methods: The exam will be oral.
Assessment criteria: The assessment of students' knowledge will be based on an understanding of topics, methods, and instruments used in Environmental Psychology.
Course unit contents: Perception and representation of natural and built environments; landscape aesthetics; cognitive components of architectural design; emotion and environment, characteristics of the restorative environments; environmental variables and environmental stressors; how to promote ecological behaviors.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Classes alternate the presentation of theoretical models to that of assessment instruments and intervention methods. Experimental situations and laboratory activities will be offered, along with the opportunity to participate in experiments. Applications of theoretical knowledge and projects on specific issues will be proposed to the active participation of the students.
