Syllabus
Prerequisites: Basic knowledges of Psychological assessment and Clinical psychology are required.
Target skills and knowledge: The course deals with the Stepped care model and aims to enhance the techniques and methods of low intensity intervention in Clinical psychology. The main low intensity interventions are analyzed in an applied and direct manner in order to achieve some basic knowledges on clinical psychology.
Examination methods: The final test is written (multiple choices, Clinical case's and setting's analysis).
Participation to practical activities and the evaluation of other compositions may be relevant to final evaluation (only if attended during the course).
Assessment criteria: The mark required to pass the exam is between 18 and 30 points.
The evaluation of practical activities gives up to 5 points, that will be added to the written mark, only if above 18 points.
Course unit contents: 1. The STEPS model: a multi-level approach to address common mental health problems
2. Low intensity Cognitive Behavioural Assessment
3. Group prevention for anxiety and depression
4. Behavioural activation
5. Graded exposure interventions
6. Psychoeducational interventions
7. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - EMDR
8. Problem solving
9. Increasing physical activity
10. Guided self-help books
11. Guided CBT interventions using the Internet
12. Standards and operating Guidelines for internet interventions
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course consists of frontal lectures, practical classes and clinical cases.
In small groups of about 4-5 people it is possible to visit services, mainly at the ULSS n. 9 of Treviso, where low intensity interventions take place.
