Syllabus
Prerequisites: Head and neck anatomy
Bone Histology and Histopathology
Physiology of the Stomatognathic System
Metabolic bone diseases
Diagnostic Imaging Modalities in Head and Neck Disease
Target skills and knowledge: the students acquire the knowhow about the managment of the patient with severe atrophy and the patient with osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Examination methods: oral exam
Assessment criteria: the student has to explain the basic knowledge about the approach to the patient with severe atrophy or osteonecrosis of the jaw
Course unit contents: Hints of head and neck anatomy and phisiology.
Phisiopathology, classification, epidemiology, imaging of head and neck diseases
Diagnostic and terapeutic iter for the approach to severe atrophy of the maxillo-facial bones.
Case reports
osteonecrosi of the jaw: definition, staging, epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention and therapy.
