Syllabus
Prerequisites: The student must have knowledge of normal human anatomy and physiology, pathology, clinical methodology that allow him to learn the meaning of the problems that will be exposed during the course.
Target skills and knowledge: The General Surgery Course is aimed at providing the scientific basis and theoretical-practical preparation necessary for the practice of the medical profession; it also provides the methodological and cultural basis for lifelong learning and the methodological foundations of scientific research. At the end of the course, the student must therefore acquire a level of professional, decision-making and operational autonomy that will allow him a responsible and profitable frequency of subsequent levels of post-graduate education. Training must be characterized by a holistic approach to the health problems of the sick person, also in relation to the physical and social environment that surrounds it.
Examination methods: Oral exam at the end of the course. The exam will be based on the contents of the program and will tend to enhance the learning of the subject on the basis of what is presented in the lesson and what has been learned during the theoretical-practical exercises.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation of the acquired knowledge will take into account the student's ability to set up a reasoning aimed at understanding the patient's problems, their exact classification and the possible solution
Course unit contents: Generalities. Preparation for surgery. Skin pathology. Basic surgical techiniques. Shock. Burns. Pathology of the digestive system. Acute abdomen. Thoracic and abdominal traumatology. Digestive bleeding. Pathology of the neck. Pathology of the respiratory system and mediastinum. Pathology of the abdominal wall. Retroperitoneum pathology.
Breast pathology. Vascular pathology. Proctological pathology. Bariatric surgery. Transplantation. Urological surgery. Cardiac Surgery. Neurotraumatology Endocrine Surgery
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The course consists of lectures with illustration of the topics through slides and / or videos. Theoretical-practical exercises are scheduled with frequency of the surgical department, the operating room, the endoscopic plate .
