Prerequisites: The contents of courses in Pharmaceutical Chemistry 1 and 2, Organic Chemistry 1 and 2, Biochemistry, Pharmacology and of courses in Mathematics and Physical Chemistry are considered preliminary.
Target skills and knowledge: This course aims to provide the student with basic knowledge on modern computational methodologies and computing in the field of design and optimization of new drugs, characterization a priori of their chemical-physical and pharmacological properties, and study at the molecular level of their possible mechanisms of action.
The course is theoretical but it is corroborated of a series of exercises, at the computer science classroom of the Department, where a student will know some of the computational tools and bioinformatic most used in both academic and in the various industrial reality to character pharmaceutical and biotechnology.
Examination methods: The examination is carried out by the proposal for a resolution of a design problem in the context of the development of a new drugcandidate.
Assessment criteria: The assessment of profit involves an assessment of the student's critical skills to address a problem related to one of the design or optimization phases of a new drug candidate.
