Prerequisites: For the understanding of the course's key contents, it is essential to have successfully passed the courses of:Technical Architecture and Laboratory,Technical Architecture 2 and Laboratory.
Target skills and knowledge: The course has the following knowledge and skills expected:
1. Knowing how to do the knowledge activity of the building intended as the development of the knowledge process and its articulation in its different phases
2. Knowing how to elaborate the card of the building in application of the methodology elaborate for the development of the knowledge activities of the building system
3. To know and apply the methodology of requirement approach for the recovery project of existing buildings
4. To know the rules that govern building recovery interventions
Examination methods: During the course the following exercises are proposed:
- Elaboration of the building card (40%);
- Elaboration of the recovery project on assigned theme (40%);
The assessment of the knowledge and expected skills is carried out through the evaluation of the exercises proposed during the course and in the oral-written evaluation proposed at the end of the course and/or during the oral interview, of learning the contents of the lectures.
The assessment of the student's preparation will then be based on the evaluation of the building data sheet (40%), on the evaluation of the recovery project (40%) and on the evaluation of the learning of the theoretical contents, corresponding to the oral part (20%).
The exercises and the oral part based on the weights attributed contribute to determining the final grade.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation criteria with which the knowledge and skills acquired will be verified are:
1. Completeness of the acquired knowledge;
2. Ability to prepare competently the elaborated subjects on the assigned topics;
3. Knowledge of the course contents provided in the lectures.
Course unit contents: Recalls of the principal concepts connected to the Building System: destination of use of the buildings, types of use, developed activity, environmental context, phenomena, solicitations, cause-action-effect relationship. The method of the requirement approach in the recovery: the classes of demands, exigencies-requirements-performance relationship. The articulation of the Building System in the sub technological, environmental and functional-spatial systems. The historical investigation finalized to the intervention of recovery: the documentary sources, methodology of investigation, analysis and elaboration of the documents. Examples and cases study. The architectural survey: direct, instrumental and photogrammetric methods. The survey project: examples and cases study. Building pathology and diagnosis. The diagnosis work, the construction of maps, happenings' nets and trees, the principal anomalies: terminology and recognition, normative references. Techniques for the treatment of the wetness of water capillary: traditional and innovative solutions. Definition of the building interventions in the normative of reference (Law 457 and following). The administrative routine for the presentation of the projects for interventions of ordinary and extraordinary maintenance, restauration and conservative interventions, building restructuring. The maintenance: base concepts. Re-use of desused industrial buildings in the north-east of Italy. Sustainability in the recovery interventions.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The activities include classroom hours where information on the contents of the course is explained on computer support (powerpoint file). In parallel with the frontal activity, the Laboratory for exercise activity is organized in. They are assigned: the exercise of the building sheet, to be elaborated individually and the project on assigned case study, for groups of 3-5 students.
All the exercises proposed and carried out by the student are subject to revision throughout the whole period of the course; they allow the student to gradually learn the objective competences of the same.
