Prerequisites: Have taken the exam of Cellular Biology and Histology and
have acquired basic knowledge of cell.
Target skills and knowledge: A basic knowledge of cells structure, plant tissues and a good knowledge about the form and function of plants, their reproduction (sexual and vegetative) and aspects of their ecophysiology.
Examination methods: Practice test, recognition of one or more vegetal preparations set (section of stem, leaf or root) under the microscope and an oral test to see if the candidate acquired the knowledge considered essential for the course preparation.
Assessment criteria: The evaluation of the student is based primarily:
during the practical test on being able to recognize a section of stem, leaf or root, in primary or secondary structure of gymnosperm, monocotyledon or dicotyledon;
in the oral test know the notions of cytology and connect these with those of histology and organography.
Essentialy it is based on an understanding of the arguments debated, the acquisition of basic concepts, the proposals methodologies and ability to apply them independently and aware.
Course unit contents: Vegetal cells: Vacuole functions and its contents, products of secondary metabolism. Microbodies. Origin, division and fate of plastids: ezio-chloro-chromium-amilo-leucoplast and their possible interconversion. Cell wall: chemical composition, architecture, chemical and physical properties, biogenesis; Wall primary, secondary and tertiary education and its modification: lignification, cutinizatione, suberisation and mineralization. Cell aggregates and real tissues. Tissues: meristems, tegumental, medullary, conductors, mechanics and secretory. Embryonic growth and cell differentiation. Structure and function of Cormophytes. Root: organography and anatomy in primary and secondary structure. Stem: organography and anatomy in primary and secondary structure. Leaf: ontogeny, organography, anatomy and phyllotaxis. Ontogenetic cycle, sexual reproduction and flower, fruit and seed. Biodiversity and classification of plants, introduction of different taxa and their evolutionary relationship as moments of cell differentiation and tissue.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: In the course will involve 52 hours of lessons to teach the entire program and 24 hours of practical exercises in the laboratory; 10 titles to analyze light microscopy various prepared with fresh material, sectioned and stained by the students and then the slides are ready and set.
