Syllabus

Common characteristics of the Integrated Course unit

Prerequisites: Basic knowledge and conceptual capabilities typically mastered by students after their high school.
Target skills and knowledge: This course aims at teaching methods and concepts of psychological science and in particular of sensory, perceptual, cognitive, emotional, and motivational processes. Module A will focus more on methods and basic concepts, that will be further developed in module B, where the different topics of General Psychology will be explored.
Examination methods: The exam consists in a computer-driven assessment that will include both multiple-choice and open questions. Students have to book their exam via "uniweb" from 15 to 7 days before the date of the exam.
For the exam's booking, a single list (valid for both modules) will be shown.
Assessment criteria: Assessment will test the level of acquisition of the learned concepts and of the degree of understanding that has been reached.

Specific characteristics of the Module

Course unit contents: - Introduction to psychology. - The concept of science. - Scientific research in psychology. - Methods and errors in scientific research. - Measurement in psychology. - Types of literature. - Attention. - Executive Function. - Intelligence.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Teaching will include both face to face lessons and more interactive aspects such as exercises or experiments to be discussed in class. The two modules are closely integrated. Lessons, exam preparation and scoring, as well as exam sessions are arranged in collaboration by the two professors.
