Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: Objective of the course is to teach the most important properties of electric networks, the main analysis methods in DC and AC steady state and some basics of transient study.
Examination methods: Written and oral exam. The written part consists of two problems a DC one and an AC one. The oral part concerns theoretical aspects of the programme.
Assessment criteria: Admission to the oral part only after successfully completing the written examination.
Course unit contents: Generators, resistors, diodes, capacitors, inductors, transformers and their characteristics. Topology of electric networks. Network theorems. DC networks: properties, theorems and analysis methods. AC networks: phasors, impedenaces, resonance, properties, theorems and analysis methods.
Transient analysis of RC, RL and RLC networks.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Frontal oral lessons and some useful exercises useful in preparation of the written exam.
