Syllabus
Prerequisites: Students are expected to know theoretical models and foundations of Social Psychology.
Target skills and knowledge: This course aims to provide students with knowledge of the main theories on social attitudes, on changing attitudes and on the relationship between attitudes and behaviors. Students will also acquire empirical and technical knowledge to carry out research in the context of attitudes.
Examination methods: The exam is written only, with open and multiple choice questions.
Assessment criteria: Student's performance will be evaluated following these criteria:
- understanding of the topics;
- acquisition of concepts and methodologies;
- ability to apply them in an autonomous and aware way.
Course unit contents: The course deals with theoretical, research and applications related to social attitudes, their change and their relationships with the behavior.
The main topics are the following:
- attitudes, definitions and measurement;
- structure and functions of attitudes;
- from attitudes to behaviors;
- changing in attitudes.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: The frontal lectures will focus on general topics and research examples. The student will deep the lectures topics using textbooks, lectures notes, and other readings suggested during the course.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The teaching material presented in class and the articles used as reference texts will be available online in Moodle platform of School of Psychology.
