Syllabus
Target skills and knowledge: The aim of the course is to provide students with the basic principles of economics, with a particular focus on microeconomics and national accounting. A specific section will be devoted to the study of the basic pronciples of labour economics.
Examination methods: Written exam.
Course unit contents: Lectures are mainly devoted to the study of microeconomics, and in particular to: concumer behaviour and product demand; firm behaviour and product supply; market behaviour, as given by the interaction between supply and demand for goods and services. In addition, a focus will concern the analysis of labour demand and supply.
A specific section is devoted to the study of the general principles of national accounting and to the definition of the main macroeconomic variables (GDP, unemployment rate, inflation rate...).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Introduction to economic theory

1. Consumer behaviour and market demand
2. Firm behaviour and market supply
3. Perfectly competitive markets and the interplay between the demand and supply of goods
4. The labour market under perfect competition
5. National accounting and the main macroeconomic indicators

Each credit corresponds to 7 hours of lectures. Possible exercise sessions can be provided subject to lecturer's judjment. Apart from the tutoring service provided by the Faculty/School, there are no other support activiities.
No distance learning activitiy is provided.
