Syllabus
Prerequisites: The previous knowledge and skills necessary for a proficient course understanding are related with equationes, inequalites, powers, radicals, analytic geometry. No specific pass of other exams are required.
Target skills and knowledge: At the end of the course students will acquire the basic notions of differential and integral calculus, statistical inference and some of the basic mathematical tools for a variety of biological models represented by dynamical systems.
Examination methods: The examination of students will be carried out through written test accounting for exercises.
Assessment criteria: Students’ knowledge will be evaluated considering both specific definitions given during the course but also by analyzing their capacity of applying the acquired knowledge to simple problem solving.
Course unit contents: 1th credit. Statistical inference: position and dispersion indexes, confidence intervals, linear regression.
2th credit. Discrete time dynamical models: analytical and recursive lows.
3th credit. Trigonometry, exponentials e logarithms.
4th credit. Sequences e limits.
5th credit. Derivateves.
6th credit. Analitical study of functions.
7th credit. Taylor series.
8th credit. Definite and indefinite integrals.
9th credit. First order ordinary differential equations.
10th credit. Continuous time dynamical models.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods: Direct room teaching activity.
Additional notes about suggested reading: The presence of students during direct teaching activities are strictly recommended in order to acquire the material presented during lectures and exercises. The lecturer will allow the students to access the material through appropriate on line instruments.
